SIRIUSXM presents Summerland Tour 2018

July 1 | 6:30pm | $60 adv, $65 day of | Full Bar | All Ages

Everclear

Considering Everclear has written and recorded some truly iconic ’90s alt-rock hits, it would be all too easy these days for the band to be a victim of its past successes, relegated to performing as a glorified jukebox, existing to satisfy the nostalgic cravings of Gen Xers everywhere. But singer-guitarist Art Alexakis isn’t about to start phoning it in now.

Although the band hasn’t released a new studio album since 2015’s triumphant Black Is The New Black, Everclear continues to tour actively, in conjunction with a series of past-release anniversary dates and the annual Summerland Tour, which Alexakis created and has been running since 2012, featuring a rotating cast of ’90s alt rock favorites. And while it’s a virtual surety that no Everclear gig is complete without a rendition of “Santa Monica” and “Father of Mine,” lately the band has found that exploring the full range of past material—especially the “deep cuts”—not only gives fans a rare treat, it also injects new life into the band’s live dynamic.

Marcy Playground

In 2017, 90’s alternative rockers Marcy Playground celebrated the 20th anniversary of their self-titled album. They returned to the road on the Rockn’ Roadtrip tour with Fuel and Dishwalla. With label partners, Slow Down Sounds they released the first vinyl edition of their debut album, which included hit single Sex and Candy. The album went platinum back in 1997, selling 1.4 million copies, while the radio classic “Sex and Candy” spent a then record 15 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart. In the interim years, Marcy Playground has released four posterior albums “Shapeshifter” (1999), “Marcy Playground 3” (MP3) (2004), “Leaving Wonderland… In A Fit of Rage” (2009), and “Lunch, Recess, and Detention” (2012). The albums demonstrated tremendous periods of creative growth for the group and are recognized as “cult classics” among the band’s dedicated fans. Their songs are featured on soundtracks such as Cruel Intentions, Antitrust, Simply Irresistible, Hurricane Streets, as well as many films by writer/director Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back, Zack and Miri Make a Porno). Marcy Playground is thrilled to return to the road in 2018 on the Summerland Tour with Everclear and Local H.

Local H

Local H is known for their blistering live shows and for pioneering the two-man band set-up — frontman Scott Lucas covers both guitar and bass through an extra pick up in his guitar and drummer Ryan Harding pounds out the rest of the sound. While they have earned praise in the past for their catalog of clever concept albums, Local H have forgone a singular theme on their most recent album — Hey, Killer — turning out a non-stop blast of straight-up, hooky, guitar-heavy rock songs — each one catchier than the last. The band’s discography includes seven other studio albums, A Greatest Hits release, numerous EPs and “Straight Outta Zion,” a Blu-ray concert video released in late 2016.

Poncho Sanchez | Alec Johnson

July 6 | 6:30pm | $20 | Full Bar | All Ages

For more than three decades as both a leader and a sideman, conguero Poncho Sanchez has stirred up a fiery stew of straightahead jazz, gritty soul music, and infectious melodies and rhythms from a variety of Latin American and South American sources. His influences are numerous, but among the more prominent figures that inform his music are two of the primary architects of Latin jazz – conga drummer and composer Chano Pozo and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie. Sanchez pays tribute to these two titans on his new album, Chano y Dizzy!, his 25th recording as a bandleader on Concord Picante, set for release on September 27, 2011. For the first time, Sanchez and Francisco Torres, long time band member (trombone/vocals), join forces to produce the new album.

Alec Johnson

Alec Johnson is a classical guitarist from Big Bear, Ca. Although his roots are in classical music, his artistic ability ranges throughout a multitude of various genres. Alec can provide music therapy, meditation music, formal jazz, acoustic performances, and a gypsy punk band.

Alec’s intention with music is to facilitate a space for listeners to enjoy beautiful music while consciously acknowledging the automatic cognitive processes that are developed through the perceptions of our experiences. Alec creates a space where the listener can reprogram and/or refine less than proactive thought patterns, as well as design completely new paradigms.

July 7 | 6:30pm | $15 | Full Bar | All Ages

Formed in 2001, The Iron Maidens have quickly established themselves as one of Southern California’s most popular tribute acts and are rapidly gaining international recognition. The band boasts beauty as well as excellent musicianship, lively stage presence, and a remarkable stage show with theatrical scenes interspersed throughout. First and foremost on the agenda of The Iron Maidens is talent. These women are highly trained professionals with diversified musical backgrounds ranging from orchestral and musical theater to blues and rock. The band and its members have been the recipients of many awards including best tribute band, and best in the category (guitar, bass, drums, voice) at events such as The Rock City News Awards, The LA Music Awards, and The All Access Magazine Award Show to name a few. The line-up is Kirsten “Bruce Chickinson” Rosenberg on vocals, Linda “Nikki McBURRain” McDonald on drums, Courtney “Adriana Smith” Cox and Nikki “Davina Murray” Stringfield on guitars, and Wanda “Steph Harris” Ortiz on bass.

Dianthus

DIANTHUS is a melodic metal act based out of Los Angeles, California. The band was formed by twin sisters, Jackie and Jessica Parry. Their music has intrigued listeners with their chaste, melodic vocal harmonies, increasingly ominous guitar tones, thunderous bass, and full-throttle attack on drums. Known for their goth-metal image, DIANTHUS evokes a sense of elegance and mystery to their live performance, as well as an acceleration of high-energy on stage. In March of 2016, DIANTHUS was selected to participate in the House of Blues’ Music Forward Foundation’s “Bringin’ Down the House” Showcase at the legendary Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The band also released their debut single titled “Within Hazel Eyes” in February of 2017 (produced by Jeremy “JINXX” Ferguson of Black Veil Brides). The band is currently plotting the release of their debut full-length album (recorded at Matt Sorum’s eminent DRAC STUDIOS in Beverly Hills, produced by JINXX).

Maiden it up!
