About Reverend Horton Heat
Loaded .38s, space heaters, and big skies. Welcome to the lethal, littered landscape of Jim Heath’s imagination. True to his high evangelical calling, Jim is a Revelator, both revealing and reinterpreting the country-blues-rock roots of American music. He’s a time-travelling space-cowboy on an endless interstellar musical tour, and we are all the richer and “psychobillier” for getting to tag along.
REVEREND HORTON HEAT have been the outlet of this creative mind for 29 years, leading to 10 full-length albums, 3 “best-of” collections, 2 DVD releases and thousands of memorable live performances. Never reaching platinum status or having a #1 radio single hasn?t been a problem for the Rev either, the band has continually been a mainstay of late night television and has toured with legendary acts such as Johnny Cash, Motorhead, Marilyn Manson, The Ramones, and many more, all of whom hold the Rev in the highest regard, as a true music industry legend.
Now, entered into a fresh new partnership with Victory Records, REVEREND HORTON HEAT show no signs of slowing down in 2014. January 21st marks the release of their 11th studio album, appropriately titled REV. The album marks a much lauded return to riff-laden, out-of-control rock ‘n roll that fans fell in love with when they first heard “Psychobilly Freakout”. The album’s first single has already turned heads; “Let Me Teach You How to Eat” is REVEREND HORTON HEAT at its finest: tongue-in-cheek and so catchy, it won’t leave your head for weeks.
The band has an incredible tour history and, with major shows and tours already booked throughout the year, will make sure you get the chance to dance one more time! Jim Heath and Jimbo Wallace have chewed up more road than the Google Maps drivers. For twenty-five psycho(billy) years, they have blazed an indelible, unforgettable, and meteoric trail across the globe with their unique blend of musical virtuosity, legendary showmanship, and mythic imagery.
“REVEREND HORTON HEAT, he’s great and plays the music he believes in and nothing else. Go see him or I’ll kill you!!” Lemmy Kilmister (MOTORHEAD)
About Cadillac Tramps
From Orange County, California, USA, hardcore punk unit Cadillac Tramps did not take too kindly to their press tag of ‘bar-drunk brawly blues band’, claiming that they offered a much more sophisticated sound – yet that description was close enough to reality to warrant repetition.
Formed in the mid-80s and comprising Mike ‘Gabby’ Gaborno (lead vocals), Brian Coakley (guitar/vocals), Johnny Wickersham (guitar/vocals), Warren Renfrow (bass) and Jamie Reidling (drums), they riffed their way to prominence with an acclaimed, sweaty live show that earned a solid reputation for the band on the Southern Californian club circuit.
Their early admirers include Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam (who personally filmed one show). Their third album, 1994’s It’s Allright, was headed by a title track that concerned Coakley’s HIV-positive friend. The Cadillac Tramps split-up shortly after the release of a 1995 compilation of outtakes and remixes, but reunited at regular intervals to play live shows. A more permanent reunion took effect in 1999, since when the band has maintained a regular touring schedule.
I’ve seen the ‘Tramps five times, and they are hands down the best live band ever to come out of the West Coast. Ever! Any band who became anything in LA has opened up for the Tramps, and their original guitarist Johnny Wickersham went on to play with Social Distortion. This album does a fine job of capturing the pure raw energy of the ‘Tramps, and is a great representation of songs from their three previous studio records. All are out of print, so if this is all you can nab, quit reading this and download now! –ITUNES REVIEW
“AT THIS POINT, THE TRAMPS ARE ONE OF THE FEW BANDS THAT CAN EASILY DRAW MULTIPLE GENERATIONS OF PUNKS TO COME OUT TO SHOWS. AND WATCHING THEIR OG SUPPORTERS PUSH UP TO THE FRONT OF THE STAGE ALWAYS GIVES THEM A MUCH-NEEDED JUMP IN THEIR COLLECTIVE, FIRE-BREATHING, PUNK-ROCK ENGINE.” – O.C. WEEKLY.
The UNtold Story of Unknown
While singing his own hilariously politically incorrect songs, Unknown Hinson plays guitar in a style incendiary enough to have Satan himself reaching for the antiperspirant. But don’t dismiss him as a novelty act. He’s one hell of a talent and has the music to prove it!
Looking somewhat like Dracula’s nasty little brother who spent some hard years drinking and working as a carnival barker for a second-rate freak show, Unknown Hinson translates that vibe to his style of country and western-tinged psychobilly. The band is now touring nationwide, wowing audiences with outrageous and campy, white-trash persona and freewheeling, sleazy tone.
Hinson’s most recent CD release, “Live and Undead”, melds weepy twang, searing guitar riffs and lyrics that speak of love-gone-bad. Recorded at a sold-out show, an enthusiastic honky tonk crowd sings along with the King on every song. Raucous, theatrical and over-the-top, Unknown Hinson isn’t just for the trailer park set anymore!
Unknown is gaining international notoriety in the 14-34 demographic as the voice of lead character “Early Cuyler” in the popular show from Cartoon Network – “Squidbillies”. The first four seasons were so well-received that an immediate green light was given to future seasons. Check website for dates and time slots.
Unknown Hinson is an international winner in the Independent Music Awards for his alternative Country track “Torture Town” from the album “Target Practice”.
Unknown Hinson is also a featured artist for Reverend Guitars, representing them in many issues of Guitar Player magazine. A signature Unknown Hinson guitar is currently part of Reverend’s celebrity instrument lineup.
