Puddle of Mudd’s Origin
Sometimes you have to walk through some shit to get to where you want to go in life. For Puddle of Mudd, that’s quite literally what they had to do to get their band started. Their practice space was right next to the Missouri river, which always flooded and forced them to “walk through a pile of shit” in order to get there. Even though there were always some muddy obstacles in their path, they never let it stop them. In fact, they embraced the difficulties that they were forced to face and made it a part of their identity. With persistence, they worked their way through an album and proudly called themselves Puddle of Mudd for all the obstacles they overcame on that Missouri River levee. The band was formed in Kansas City with Wes Scantlin (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Jimmy Allen (lead guitar), […]
Surf Rock Legend Comes to Big Bear!
Ohio born music legend, Al Jardine, is one of the most influential musicians of our time. Being one of the founding members of the archetypal band, The Beach Boys, he has seen and spear-headed a great deal of development in the music industry. The Beach Boys are one of the bands out of the 60’s that will always be remembered, right next to the legendary Beatles and Rolling Stones. Their songs bring some of the greatest nostalgia of California living, and even transcend the music of today. Al Jardine is still touring to this day, and will be at The Cave in Big Bear on June 15th!

A word with the legend
Hal Katchum is a very interesting man, and I had the honor of conducting an interview with him today. Being an active and prolific songwriter for most of his life, my first question was meant to satisfy my curiosity of where his inspiration comes from. He said that he dreams a lot of his songs, and always finds a way to capture it as it comes. “It just comes to me,” he says in a calm and genuine tone of voice. All of Hal’s music comes from a very deep place, where he is blessed with the opportunity to manifest it on the physical plane.
A True Artist
Hal has been a writing music professionally for many years, and still enjoys writing and playing music. After working in the trenches of the music industry for […]
A take for take act of the legendary Johnny Cash
I had the honor of conducting an interview with Douglas Benson, singer of Cash’d Out. Doug is a genuine contributor to the energy Johnny Cash brought to the table. His musical style began to develop as he had lost his job and picked up a guitar. People loved the music he played, and he had fun playing it. Just like any truly talented individual, Doug had eventually found himself playing music with organic success. “I actually had a pretty good job by the time we started the band. But it was rolling so good, and we were working so much that I figured that I would rather be playing in a band than doing a job. I just jumped off the ledge and quit my job.”
This is a very inspiring story for any musician or artist […]
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus heads up to Big Bear on March 30th!
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus story goes back to 2003, actually much further back to when brothers Ronnie and Randy Winter first started playing on acoustic guitars their grandfather gave them, but we’ll skip the ‘they learned to play and formed a bunch of bands that ultimately lead them down the path to glory’ bit and jump in where they were making so much noise that it attracted Virgin Records who snapped them up released the bands debut LP, Dont You Fake It in 2006.
By the end of that year the album was certified Gold in the US, charted the singles Guardian Angel and their best known song, the anti domestic violence focused, Face Down (which is also featured in several video games) and spawned four music videos. A deluxe edition was released in early 2007 featured […]
