Powerman 5000 Hits the Stage March 16th

POWERMAN 5000 began soon after founder and frontman Spider One dropped out of the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Massachusetts. “I loved painting” Spider recalls, “but I figured I could do that when I was 80. I was spending all my time in the clubs of Boston, like the Rat and the Channel. I was watching all of these great local bands and I wanted to be apart of that scene! So I dropped out of school without a clue but was determined to start a band.”

After years of false starts and various incarnations, Powerman 5000 eventually released it’s first EP, TRUE FORCE in 1994 which quickly became a Boston rock favorite, catapulting the band to the top of the local scene. “We were very different than everyone else. At the time Grunge was exploding and […]

The Best Kind of Musicians

It is quite rare to find a genuine musician that goes above and beyond purely for the love of their music, and dedication to their craft. I had the pleasure of speaking with one of those people today. Steve Zukowsky is the guitarist of Led Zeppelin tribute band – Zeppelin USA. He is a very talented and hard working guitarist, and each member of the band is just as excellent.

The entire band is filled with accomplished professional musicians that have clicked in a way that brings out the best in the band and each other. Steve was originally in another Zeppelin tribute called Led Zepagain, which he left to eventually find amazing chemistry with the members in Zeppelin USA.

A Young Passionate Musician

Steve has been learning guitar since he was 12 years old, studying all […]

The Legendary Jefferson Starship

By |January 23rd, 2018|Categories: All Ages, All Ages, Classic Rock, Event, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , |Comments Off on The Legendary Jefferson Starship

They are coming to Big Bear!

The legendary Jefferson Starship, originally named Jefferson Airplane, has taken the world ever since the release of White Rabbit in 1967. They were another amazing band that had sprung out from the booming cultural scene in the 60’s. Although the band’s talent made them stick out among their already shining cohort, it was their insight as songwriters that had set them apart from most other bands.

The White Rabbit

One of the most versatile bands, Jefferson Starship has experienced a great deal of major transformations throughout the years. Around each turn of events, the band still hypnotizes the world with psychedelic, yet practically relatable  music. The song “White Rabbit” was one that had captured the attention of basically everybody, shedding light on experience with consciousness and drug use (legal and illegal). This song was especially capturing because of the revealing insight on […]

Billy Joel: The Piano Man Tribute

By |January 2nd, 2018|Categories: All Ages, All Ages, Classic Rock, Event, Shows, The Cave, Tribute Act|Tags: , , , |Comments Off on Billy Joel: The Piano Man Tribute

The Early years

Billy Joel had found his creative muse early in life. He discovered his love for music when he learned his first song. His piano lessons consisted of the usual classical training, and he did very well at it. Eventually, he got bored with reading music and began to write his own. To make his mother think he was playing the songs assigned to him, he would improvise classical music. Billy rarely remembered what he had played the day before, so he would make up a new song. The daily repetition of writing song after song made Billy a genius composer and entertainer.

When Billy was 5 years old, his father abandoned him and his mother. He was also not a very good student in school, because he would spend his time playing with his bands rather than doing […]

An Interview with Graham Russell

By |December 19th, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Classic Rock, Event, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Uncategorized|Tags: |Comments Off on An Interview with Graham Russell

A Man with a Gift

Graham Russell is a the founder of the popular Australian 80’s band, Air Supply.  He and Russell Hitchcock (lead vocalist and front man) have worked together for years creating music that  became very popular in Australia and Asia, and later the US.

Graham Russell is a true musician. When asks what inspires him to play music, he spoke as if the question was already answered before he had the chance to analyse it. “Its the only thing I really know how to do,” he says with a proud and cheerful tone. He has been playing music since he was 10 years old, and is as much into the flow of it now as when he was a child. “It’s part of my DNA now. I play every day. My work is writing and playing music. It’s a great life and I love it.”

DSB – Juan Castillo Interview

By |October 23rd, 2017|Categories: Classic Rock, Tribute Act|Tags: , , |Comments Off on DSB – Juan Castillo Interview

On October 28th 2017, The Cave will once again be home to the world’s premier Journey tribute band DSB, short for Don’t Stop Belivin’, and we recently had the pleasure of speaking with Juan Del Castillo–frontman and lead singer.

Del Castillo began his career over 9 years ago when he responded to an ad of a different Journey Tribute band in search of a lead singer. Shortly after joining the first band he realized it was something he could excel at and decided to form his own band to focus on the music of Journey rather than looking like Journey…thus DSB was born.

As we were talking about the history of DSB, I was curious to know if there was a significant moment in the group’s history. Del Castillo instantly responded with a memory from a show they played in Santa Clarita, Ca., back when they were just up and coming, […]

Pink Floyd: Another Brick in the Wall

By |October 16th, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Classic Rock, Event, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Tribute Act|Tags: , |Comments Off on Pink Floyd: Another Brick in the Wall

Surely one of the greatest rock bands of all time, Pink Floyd has captured the world and has inspired a significant section of the population. Standing as a prominent pillar in the world of music since the 60’s, they have made great contributions to the library of music that will be remembered for centuries. Psychedelic, yet concrete, their works have been praised in the music business as some of the most the most commercially viable in music history.

Although their music is very well constructed and catchy, I think the most important aspect of their work is the highly influential message. The concepts they write about are universal in our society, and inspire the common man to rise above the status quo and become a great contributor to the development and overall evolution of our society’s culture. Timothy B. Schmit is a tremendously blessed musician. Each project he has been associated with has become a significant success, and he continues to bring amazing music into the world. His legendary role in The Eagles is only the tip of the iceberg. Although his work in The Eagles is what granted him widespread prominence in popular music and entertainment culture, he has also worked with a myriad of well-accomplished musicians to create works that have become concrete cornerstones of the mass paradigm.

Timothy B. Schmit

After joining The Eagles in in 1977, Schmit became one of the most charismatic entertainers in the group. His laid back and confident posture as a bassist is one that brings a straightforward and grounded vibe to the act. Additionally, the sleek and candid style of his voice make for a soothing, yet informative […]

The Babys

By |October 11th, 2017|Categories: Classic Rock|Tags: |Comments Off on The Babys

Although the British invasion may have started in the late 50’s early 60’s, the shock waves reverberated through the decades.

One of the bands to rise from the ashes left by their UK counterparts was The Babys. Hitting the front lines as a unit in 1975, they attacked the American charts from 1976-81, scoring direct hits with “Isn’t It Time”, and “Every Time I think Of You”.

The 70’s proved to be a memorable decade as it relates to classic rock, and The Babys made their mark in the short time they recorded.

The soldiers may have changed over the years but Tony Brock and Wally Stocker continue to lead the troops to victory in their musical assault.

In 2012 they rallied new recruits including John Bisaha, Joey Sykes, Francesco Saglietti, & The Babettes(Holly & Elisa), and in 2014 stormed back into the game with the release of “I’ll Have Some Of That“.

Please […]
