Blue Oyster Cult: An Epic origin

By |September 18th, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Classic Rock, Event, Rock, The Cave, Uncategorized|Tags: |Comments Off on Blue Oyster Cult: An Epic origin

Blue Oyster Cult is an incredibly insightful and imaginative band. Their music and lyrics are rather articulate in the way it is structured and conveyed, and certainly not among the status quo in the niche of rock and roll. Yet, despite the subtle complexities in the arrangements of their music, they still manage to deliver it in a package that the average person can easily understand and digest.

Originally named multiple times, the band had been through a lot of changes. The most notable of original names is Soft White Underbelly, which is a reference to Winston Churchill’s perception of Italy in World War II. He had seen Italy as the weak spot he could take advantage of to defeat Germany. The name Blue Oyster Cult comes from a poem the manager had written about a group of blue aliens who clandestinely […]

Desperado: #1 Tribute to The Eagles

By |September 13th, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Classic Rock, Country, Event, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Tribute Act|Tags: , , |Comments Off on Desperado: #1 Tribute to The Eagles

The legendary 70’s rock band, The Eagles, has made a huge impact on the world. From the radio to Guitar Hero, their music has spread across every outlet and into the ears of the masses. The content of their music has inspired the work of a myriad of musicians throughout their compelling history, as well as served as a corner stone in the lives of the average person.

Calling upon the basic inner workings of the human psyche, The Eagles often touches the hearts of almost every person that hears their music. With general concepts particularized for the average person, they can always relate to their audience. Hotel California, for example, is about consumerism in California and the propaganda served to romanticize California life. Lead guitarist Don Felder spoke about it in an interview. “As you’re driving in Los Angeles at night, […]

Dead Man’s Party

Oingo Boingo has had a rather interesting history. As they formed in 1972 under The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo, their goal was to develop a interdisciplinary performance art act. The leader of the band is Danny Elfman, an American composer and songwriter, who has completed extensive works in film scores with industry legends such as Tim Burton. The band put together a theatrical performance with an eclectic mix of ska, rock, pop, and world music. As the band evolved, they transformed into an 8 piece ska influenced new wave band. As they went through this transformation, they decided to shorten their name to Boingo. Since then, they achieved significant success until their retirement in 1995. In their last show before retirement, they looked back at their history and called themselves Oingo Boingo in a fit of reminiscent and conclusive nostalgia.

Now, to […]

The music written by one of the most iconic bands will be echoing through The Cave on September 9th. Jumping Jack Flash, a critically acclaimed Rolling Stones tribute act, will be offering a historical performance of one of the best rock and roll bands of all time.

Jumping Jack Flash front man, Young Hutchinson, has developed this highly successful act naturally. “All of us tend to be drawn to what we are good at,” Hutchinson says about the tribute act. “We found that we were good at it, because the audience reacted well. Fast forward, and we are playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people.”

They are always developing their act to make it fresh and better every time, incorporating new aspects of the performance. “We tried to expand potential for opps by injecting a theater experience. It’s not just a tribute […]

An Interview with Super Diamond

By |August 23rd, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Classic Rock, Rock, Tribute Act|Tags: , , |Comments Off on An Interview with Super Diamond

Recently, we have had the pleasure of speaking with and interviewing Super Diamond’s frontman, Randy Cordero. He is a very cool guy, and we enjoyed picking his brain.

His love for music started early on in his childhood. His first 8 track his parents gave him was one of Neil Diamond’s. As he grew up, he was influenced by other bands in the 70’s and 80’s new wave age. These influences and his passion for music formed him into what he is today.

His band has accomplished a great deal, both collectively and individually. I asked him what the journey was like to create this band. He said, “ we had no idea we were going to end up doing what we did. We thought it would be fun to play Neil Diamond songs in San Francisco clubs. A lot of the band members were […]

Zeppelin USA: A Perfect Embodiment

By |July 15th, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Classic Rock, Tribute Act||Comments Off on Zeppelin USA: A Perfect Embodiment

Any tribute band can add the props, effects, and character traits of the band they are celebrating. However, what makes a tribute special is the ability to emulate and perpetuate the energy that made the original band so iconic and meaningful to the listeners. For Zeppelin USA, every performance is a commemorative immortalization of the legendary band we know and love.

Robert Plant is one of the most sophisticated vocalists in rock and roll’s long and diverse history. The nuances and inflections are so unique that most singers, no matter how high caliber they are, fail to imitate it in the same strength and intensity. Brody Dolyniuk from Zeppelin USA, however, can hit it right on the mark. Furthermore, his invigorating stage presence hooks you in as though you were watching Plant himself.

The entire band consists of world-class musicians, all of which add a special element to the performance that […]

Desperado: A Blast from the past

By |May 26th, 2017|Categories: Classic Rock, Tribute Act|Tags: , , |Comments Off on Desperado: A Blast from the past

It is always a treat to enjoy world-class musicians in a high caliber concert venue, especially when they can encompass the vibe of your favorite band in such a powerful way. Desperado is more than an average tribute band. They bring the particular energy of the legendary band we all know and love. These talented and accomplished musicians can deliver a performance one holds fondly in their memory.

“A Desperado performance isn’t just about an audience enjoying their favorite Eagles hits… It’s about that & much more. The professional visual impact, astounding accuracy & obvious soulful appreciation & personal enjoyment which is shown by the performing musicians takes the great music of the Eagles far beyond the typical ‘tribute’ band experience. A Desperado audience has a memorable, world class, ‘Major Artist Concert’ type of musical experience that they will talk about to their friends & peers, for years to come.”

Desperado […]

Beatles vs. Stones – A Musical Shoot Out

The British Invasion brought us the two most popular rock groups of all time, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, as well as the liveliest debate in rock history – which band is the greatest? These two legendary bands will engage in an on-stage, mash-up duel – a musical “shoot out of the hits” if you will – featuring internationally renowned tribute bands, Abbey Road and Jumping Jack Flash.

“Electrifying show!” said the O.C. Register.

“The most unique tribute show in decades,” said the L.A. Times.

“The crowd was on their feet screaming the entire time!” said the Idaho Statesman.
“If you missed The Beatles and The Rolling Stones live, here is your second chance,” said the San Clemente Times.

Five alternating power sets with the two bands coming together on stage for an amazing encore makes this show a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Cash’d Out at The Cave

About Cash’d Out

Over the past couple of decades, tribute bands have become big business in the world of concert promotion. And, not surprisingly, the more popular ones are the acts that are most authentic. Such is the case with Cash’d Out (Douglas Benson vocals, Kevin Manuel guitar, George Bernardo drums, and Stephen Rey bass), a San Diego based band, that channels Johnny Cash in about as close a manner to the real thing as it gets.

How can you tell?

Well, beyond critics having anointed Cash’d Out the “next best thing to Johnny Cash,” and the group having won six San Diego Music Awards for Best Tribute Band, and being the only tribute band endorsed by the official Johnny Cash web page, JohnnyCash.com, the real proof lies in what members of Cash’s inner circle have said. “Cindy Cash came to a show, we made […]

Zeppelin USA at The Cave

Bio

The songs remain the same….just a different approach

Zeppelin USA (ZUSA for short) is all about the music and spirit of Led Zeppelin. When the members of ZUSA formed, a clear decision had to be made. We could have easily donned the blonde “Robert Plant” wig, the dragon suit a la Jimmy Page, the 3 rings on the kick drum, etc. as so many other Zep tributes have done. But we knew that in order to set ourselves apart from the pack we had to choose a different path. To stand on the music only, we know we’re going to be judged hard in that respect. And so, we focus on getting the right tones, vocal inflections, our mix out front, borrowing a little from the studio versions here, the live versions there…much attention is spent on delivering a true sonic Zep experience.

But we also believe in entertainment. The […]
