The legendary 70’s rock band, The Eagles, has made a huge impact on the world. From the radio to Guitar Hero, their music has spread across every outlet and into the ears of the masses. The content of their music has inspired the work of a myriad of musicians throughout their compelling history, as well as served as a corner stone in the lives of the average person.
Calling upon the basic inner workings of the human psyche, The Eagles often touches the hearts of almost every person that hears their music. With general concepts particularized for the average person, they can always relate to their audience. Hotel California, for example, is about consumerism in California and the propaganda served to romanticize California life. Lead guitarist Don Felder spoke about it in an interview. “As you’re driving in Los Angeles at night, […]
Oingo Boingo has had a rather interesting history. As they formed in 1972 under The Mystic Knights of Oingo Boingo, their goal was to develop a interdisciplinary performance art act. The leader of the band is Danny Elfman, an American composer and songwriter, who has completed extensive works in film scores with industry legends such as Tim Burton. The band put together a theatrical performance with an eclectic mix of ska, rock, pop, and world music. As the band evolved, they transformed into an 8 piece ska influenced new wave band. As they went through this transformation, they decided to shorten their name to Boingo. Since then, they achieved significant success until their retirement in 1995. In their last show before retirement, they looked back at their history and called themselves Oingo Boingo in a fit of reminiscent and conclusive nostalgia.
Now, to […]
Visions is a high quality tribute band that accurately emulates the music of Rush. While the wardrobe and physical props are the only focus for most tribute acts, Visions focuses on the music above all else. With a rather sophisticated repertoire, Rush’s music is not easy to replicate. Their progressive style will test even the most solid musicians, from the abnormal harmonic and melodic structures to the subtle nuances their song writing styles manifest. Rush’s music is so particular that there aren’t many tribute acts that honor them, much less successfully satisfy the ear of the dedicated Rush fan.
Rush has some of the most entertaining performances in modern rock history. Their fresh and unpredictable instrumental music always keeps you on your feet, with constant changes and twists that the normal rock band cannot compete with. At the same time, their lively and insightful lyrics will encourage you to let […]
The music written by one of the most iconic bands will be echoing through The Cave on September 9th. Jumping Jack Flash, a critically acclaimed Rolling Stones tribute act, will be offering a historical performance of one of the best rock and roll bands of all time.
Jumping Jack Flash front man, Young Hutchinson, has developed this highly successful act naturally. “All of us tend to be drawn to what we are good at,” Hutchinson says about the tribute act. “We found that we were good at it, because the audience reacted well. Fast forward, and we are playing in front of hundreds of thousands of people.”
They are always developing their act to make it fresh and better every time, incorporating new aspects of the performance. “We tried to expand potential for opps by injecting a theater experience. It’s not just a tribute […]
Recently, we have had the pleasure of speaking with and interviewing Super Diamond’s frontman, Randy Cordero. He is a very cool guy, and we enjoyed picking his brain.
His love for music started early on in his childhood. His first 8 track his parents gave him was one of Neil Diamond’s. As he grew up, he was influenced by other bands in the 70’s and 80’s new wave age. These influences and his passion for music formed him into what he is today.
His band has accomplished a great deal, both collectively and individually. I asked him what the journey was like to create this band. He said, “ we had no idea we were going to end up doing what we did. We thought it would be fun to play Neil Diamond songs in San Francisco clubs. A lot of the band members were […]
Most people are impassioned by the sound of the iconic songs from the Southern California Ska/punk band Sublime. They brought a fresh sense of excitement with their performance, and clarity with their inspiring musical craftsmanship. As Sublime grew bigger, they never expected something would go terribly wrong.
After the death of singer Bradley Nowell, the band came to a sudden halt. In order for the rest of the members to honor their talents and fallen brother, they formed the band Long Beach Dub Allstars. This is a 7 piece dub/ska/rock band that plays all over California. Their music is a perfect mix between reggae, ska, and rock; it caters to those who want to jam to the vibe of the music, as well as those who want to rock out.
The Long Beach Dub Allstars are an incredibly inspiring band, and they are […]
Malo is an American latin rock band from San Francisco, featuring the brother of Carlos Santana, Jorge Santana. The band was oblivious to this when they recruited him to join Malo. “He came and auditioned, and he was good so we added him.” says front man Arcelio Garcia. In fact, they didn’t find out until 2 years later when Carlos came to one of their performances. Carlos and Jorge acted very familiar toward each other, which confused the band, until Arcelio asked Carlos if he knew Jorge. He was shocked to discover their tie in blood, and the degree of Jorge’s modesty.
Malo’s lead singer, Arcelio Garcia, had first started his musical journey as a funk singer. His mother said, “why don’t you play salsa?” and that simple suggestion influenced the trajectory of the rest of his life. He was told he was a bad kid, so […]
Colin Hay’s roots have established steadily for decades, and the his work still produces fruit to this day. The work he has done in his band Men at Work is only a portion of his accomplishments, along with the 13 pieces of work he has released. He is well known for his 1981 hit song, Down Under, and Overkill featured on the TV show Scrubs. His works has inspired many world class musicians, including James Hetfield from Metallica and Jeremiah Fraites of The Lumineers.
His latest release, Fierce Mercy, explores universal and relevant themes in the life of every individual. Red Hot Chili Peppers is more than just a musical group; they are a cultural icon. The rare style and technique they manifest has stood the test of both time and critique. Anothony Keidis’s (front man) charismatic style of singing reflects a great deal of soulful wisdom. Flea exudes a fun loving attitude and personality the audience thrives off of. Their style of playing is so unique that few can recreate it at the same caliber, except Righteous and The Wicked: a tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers.

They bring every ounce of passion forged by the original band, and convey it articulately on stage. They are bringing the fire to the Cave’s world class stage on Friday, August 21st!
