A word with the legend

Hal Katchum is a very interesting man, and I had the honor of conducting an interview with him today. Being an active and prolific songwriter for most of his life, my first question was meant to satisfy my curiosity of where his inspiration comes from. He said that he dreams a lot of his songs, and always finds a way to capture it as it comes. “It just comes to me,” he says in a calm and genuine tone of voice. All of Hal’s music comes from a very deep place, where he is blessed with the opportunity to manifest it on the physical plane.

A True Artist

Hal has been a writing music professionally for many years, and still enjoys writing and playing music. After working in the trenches of the music industry for […]

By |March 26th, 2018|Categories: Uncategorized||Comments Off on Friday the 13th with Moonshine Bandits

Whiskey, Women, and US Patriotism

What are you doing on Friday the 13th? We’re going to be partying with a badass country rap group.

Moonshine Bandits formed in 2003, debuting their act with the album Soggy Crackerz (Soaked in Beer). Moonshine Bandits are all about partying,  reverence for God, and the “red, white, and blue collar”. They bring a sense of celebration wherever they go because they are proud of where they come from. As they say, ““If you ain’t proud of where you’re from, get the hell out of town”.

Moonshine Party

The Moonshine Bandits are one of the most fun loving and high energy bands we have seen here at The Cave, and we have had some pretty crazy acts. Their music is all about coming together and having a good time, while paying tribute to the things that have blessed us with this good life. The Moonshine Bandits […]

Powerman 5000 Live at The Cave

By |March 13th, 2018|Categories: All Ages, All Ages, Classic Rock, Event, Punk, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Uncategorized||Comments Off on Powerman 5000 Live at The Cave

Powerman 5000 Hits the Stage March 16th

POWERMAN 5000 began soon after founder and frontman Spider One dropped out of the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston Massachusetts. “I loved painting” Spider recalls, “but I figured I could do that when I was 80. I was spending all my time in the clubs of Boston, like the Rat and the Channel. I was watching all of these great local bands and I wanted to be apart of that scene! So I dropped out of school without a clue but was determined to start a band.”

After years of false starts and various incarnations, Powerman 5000 eventually released it’s first EP, TRUE FORCE in 1994 which quickly became a Boston rock favorite, catapulting the band to the top of the local scene. “We were very different than everyone else. At the time Grunge was exploding and […]

The Legendary Jefferson Starship

By |January 23rd, 2018|Categories: All Ages, All Ages, Classic Rock, Event, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Uncategorized||Comments Off on The Legendary Jefferson Starship

They are coming to Big Bear!

The legendary Jefferson Starship, originally named Jefferson Airplane, has taken the world ever since the release of White Rabbit in 1967. They were another amazing band that had sprung out from the booming cultural scene in the 60’s. Although the band’s talent made them stick out among their already shining cohort, it was their insight as songwriters that had set them apart from most other bands.

The White Rabbit

One of the most versatile bands, Jefferson Starship has experienced a great deal of major transformations throughout the years. Around each turn of events, the band still hypnotizes the world with psychedelic, yet practically relatable  music. The song “White Rabbit” was one that had captured the attention of basically everybody, shedding light on experience with consciousness and drug use (legal and illegal). This song was especially capturing because of the revealing insight on […]

Acoustic Hip Hop with Shwayze

By |January 3rd, 2018|Categories: All Ages, All Ages, Event, Hip Hop, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Uncategorized||Comments Off on Acoustic Hip Hop with Shwayze

A difficult Upbringing

Shwayze has an interesting twist on acoustic rock and hip hop. His music is simple and practical, allowing the listener to understand his point while grooving with it. His choruses are full of catchy and engaging nuances, while his verses contain provocative anecdotes. The music is relatable throughout the entire piece, while sparing no expense on entertainment.

Shwayze

Growing up in a less fortunate upbringing, Shwayze had grown up working for his grandfather doing handy man work. He had worked hard as a kid in Malibu, as his family struggled to make a descent living. Even as a child, he worked harder than most individuals. On top of his basic responsibilities, he still gave himself the time to practice music. He developed himself well and quickly became a hardworking leader. It was this paradigm that fostered […]

A Man with a Gift

Graham Russell is a the founder of the popular Australian 80’s band, Air Supply.  He and Russell Hitchcock (lead vocalist and front man) have worked together for years creating music that  became very popular in Australia and Asia, and later the US.

Graham Russell is a true musician. When asks what inspires him to play music, he spoke as if the question was already answered before he had the chance to analyse it. “Its the only thing I really know how to do,” he says with a proud and cheerful tone. He has been playing music since he was 10 years old, and is as much into the flow of it now as when he was a child. “It’s part of my DNA now. I play every day. My work is writing and playing music. It’s a great life and I love it.”

Secondhand Serenade: Awake

By |October 9th, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Alternative, Event, Rock, Shows, Uncategorized||Comments Off on Secondhand Serenade: Awake

Secondhand Serenade is led by California based musician, John Vesely. Vesely began his journey with nothing but an acoustic guitar and a foresight of the upcoming state of the music industry. With social media in it’s infancy, there was little musicians and labels could do to take advantage of it. Now, social media is a major tool for the promotion and distribution of music, all thanks to artists like Secondhand Serenade, who came forward and found a way to tame the frontier.

Vesely released his first album with a brand new record label on an incredibly underdeveloped social media platform. Despite the obstacles, the album quickly became a social sensation. They launched extremely successful tours, appeared on a myriad of television shows, and shot to the top of the radio charts. Now, after 10 […]

An interview with Dead Man’s Party

By |October 3rd, 2017|Categories: All Ages, All Ages, Alternative, Classic Rock, Event, Rock, Shows, The Cave, Tribute Act, Uncategorized||Comments Off on An interview with Dead Man’s Party

Rob Elfaizy is the front man of Dead Man’s Party, the Oingo Boingo tribute band. Rob has been playing music for his entire life, since before he could even hold an instrument. He was a student of the Suzuki method, which is a high caliber system for musical education. He has played violin, classical guitar, and piano. He was drawn to the electric after he got older, taking influences from bands like Oingo Boingo. After Boingo had broken up, he started to play shows their songs as a tribute. It turned out that there was quite a demand for Oingo Boingo music and he had emulated the band well. Rob had been so successful that the original members had heard about them through the grape vine. With Boingo founder Richard Elfman’s approval of the DMP’s legitimacy, they quickly grew into a […]
