The Best Kind of Musicians

It is quite rare to find a genuine musician that goes above and beyond purely for the love of their music, and dedication to their craft. I had the pleasure of speaking with one of those people today. Steve Zukowsky is the guitarist of Led Zeppelin tribute band – Zeppelin USA. He is a very talented and hard working guitarist, and each member of the band is just as excellent.

The entire band is filled with accomplished professional musicians that have clicked in a way that brings out the best in the band and each other. Steve was originally in another Zeppelin tribute called Led Zepagain, which he left to eventually find amazing chemistry with the members in Zeppelin USA.

A Young Passionate Musician

Steve has been learning guitar since he was 12 years old, studying all […]

The Early years

Billy Joel had found his creative muse early in life. He discovered his love for music when he learned his first song. His piano lessons consisted of the usual classical training, and he did very well at it. Eventually, he got bored with reading music and began to write his own. To make his mother think he was playing the songs assigned to him, he would improvise classical music. Billy rarely remembered what he had played the day before, so he would make up a new song. The daily repetition of writing song after song made Billy a genius composer and entertainer.

When Billy was 5 years old, his father abandoned him and his mother. He was also not a very good student in school, because he would spend his time playing with his bands rather than doing […]

DSB – Juan Castillo Interview

On October 28th 2017, The Cave will once again be home to the world’s premier Journey tribute band DSB, short for Don’t Stop Belivin’, and we recently had the pleasure of speaking with Juan Del Castillo–frontman and lead singer.

Del Castillo began his career over 9 years ago when he responded to an ad of a different Journey Tribute band in search of a lead singer. Shortly after joining the first band he realized it was something he could excel at and decided to form his own band to focus on the music of Journey rather than looking like Journey…thus DSB was born.

As we were talking about the history of DSB, I was curious to know if there was a significant moment in the group’s history. Del Castillo instantly responded with a memory from a show they played in Santa Clarita, Ca., back when they were just up and coming, […]

Back in the early 1980’s Heavy Metal music had evolved to include many sub-genres such as black metal, death metal, and speed/thrash metal. At the forefront of the speed metal movement was a fiery group formed in Los Angeles California who would go on to become one of, if not, the most beloved Metal bands ever! Their name, Metallica. Of their 10 studio albums, Master Of Puppets is considered one the greatest Heavy Metal records of all time. The Black Album garnered them mainstream success which grew wildly and continues to this day. The band has taken home 8 Grammy awards, sold over 110 million records worldwide, and in 2009 was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Musicians of this magnitude warrant and are well deserving of being honored, and on September 15th, 2017 The Cave in Big Bear Lake, California bring to you the #1 […]

An Interview with Super Diamond

By |August 23rd, 2017|Categories: All Ages, Classic Rock, Rock, Tribute Act|Tags: , , |Comments Off on An Interview with Super Diamond

Recently, we have had the pleasure of speaking with and interviewing Super Diamond’s frontman, Randy Cordero. He is a very cool guy, and we enjoyed picking his brain.

His love for music started early on in his childhood. His first 8 track his parents gave him was one of Neil Diamond’s. As he grew up, he was influenced by other bands in the 70’s and 80’s new wave age. These influences and his passion for music formed him into what he is today.

His band has accomplished a great deal, both collectively and individually. I asked him what the journey was like to create this band. He said, “ we had no idea we were going to end up doing what we did. We thought it would be fun to play Neil Diamond songs in San Francisco clubs. A lot of the band members were […]

The Righteous and the Wicked

Red Hot Chili Peppers is more than just a musical group; they are a cultural icon. The rare style and technique they manifest has stood the test of both time and critique. Anothony Keidis’s (front man) charismatic style of singing reflects a great deal of soulful wisdom. Flea exudes a fun loving attitude and personality the audience thrives off of. Their style of playing is so unique that few can recreate it at the same caliber, except Righteous and The Wicked: a tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers.

This is a group of four well established and experienced musicians who came together to perpetuate the heart and soul of RHCP. They bring every ounce of passion forged by the original band, and convey it articulately on stage. They are bringing the fire to the Cave’s world class stage on Friday, August 21st! Connect with them on Facebook and reserve your […]
