What’s going on in Big Bear this weekend?
Ahh, the fresh air! Big Bear is such an beautiful place, filled with some amazing people and delicious food. With amazing restaurants, live music, and all kinds of activities, the entire town is packed with all kinds of things to do! Here is a list of some events that is put on by locals and the City of Big Bear. No matter what you’re looking for in your visit, Big Bear has something going on for you. Looking to go swimming and fishing in the lake? Interested in a foot or bike race? Want to watch a movie in the beautiful meadows of our mountains? We have it all happening right here this weekend.
First things first… Eat some Food!
The newest restaurant in The Big Bear Lake Village, The Bone Yard Bar and Grill, has some delicious BBQ selections. Each dish is prepared with great care and made with high quality ingredients. With over 40 beers on tap, The Bone Yard has Big Bear’s largest selection of the best beers from all over the world. The location is smack dab in the center of the downtown area, where all of the activity is happening around you! So wherever you’re headed, The Bone Yard is a perfect place to begin your journey. Here is what someone had to say!
“Stopped by for lunch yesterday and decided to sit at the bar. The bartenderswere very friendly and engaging. While I love my Guinness, I was impressed with the plethora of pour options from their tap. My wife ordered the pulled pork and I had the four bone beef ribs. Kudos on both plates! The flavors were amazing! We’ll be back for sure!” – Bob Cisneros
Want to see a Epic Concert?
The Cave is a high caliber concert venue that also lies in the center of it all in our beloved downtown area of The Big Bear Lake Village. There are concerts every weekend of all types, and this weekend is very special because we are having two legendary bands performing live!
Al Jardine – Surf Rock Legend
Al Jardine, a founding member of The Beach Boys, will be performing on Friday, June 15th. He will be debuting his solo release of “A Postcard from California”, with his very own son at his side! In an intimate acoustic setting Including rare images and video, Mr. Jardine takes us back into a history so improbable that it must have been meant to be! From meeting Elvis Presley to making “Pet Sounds”, here are the songs, stories and harmonies that moved generations in one unforgettable evening.
Al is performing at The Cave and is joined by his son Matt Jardine, known for his breathtaking falsettos on Brian Wilson’s most recent Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour, as well as Jeff Alan Ross, former member of the legendary Apple Records band Badfinger and musical director for Grammy award winning producer Peter Asher. Time permitting, Al also meets fans after the show at his merch booth, which includes his solo CD A Postcard from California along with his childrens book Sloop John B: A Pirate’s Tale.
Puddle of Mudd
Puddle Of Mudd is an American post-grunge band from Kansas City, Missouri. The band has sold over 7 million albums and has a string of No.1 mainstream rock singles in the US. Their major label debut ‘Come Clean’ has sold over five million copies. Ask Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin about the writing and recording of the album Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate, and he responds with the same spirit of carefree wanderlust that defines his band: “It’s all easy peezy, dude, no big deal at all…”
Not to him, maybe. Wes Scantlin is custom-made for the new millennium, a rock star without the pretense, and a frontman whose spontaneity propels his offstage personality as much as it does his onstage delivery. “Wes is constantly adjusting to the vibe in the room, throwing his flavor in there and constantly trying to make people laugh,” explains bassist Doug Ardito. “He doesn’t do the David Lee Roth thing, where he delivers the same lines every night, he’s completely off-the-cuff.”

22nd Annual Holcomb Valley Trail Run
Jun 16, 2018 | 07:00AM – 03:00PM
Starting at the water’s edge of Big Bear Lake, the Holcomb Valley Trail Run brings runners deep into the heart of the most scenic area in Big Bear, Holcomb Valley. Breathtaking views of the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area, Big Bear Lake, and the surrounding valley can be seen from the miles of single track running along the Pacific Crest Trail. The Holcomb Valley Trail Run offers three separate distances: a 33-mile race, a 15-mile race, and a 7-mile race. Sections of the Pacific Crest Trail are part of each race course. This is some of the best trail running in Southern California; so sign up early, the race has sold out the past 5 years.
Now in it’s 22nd year, the Holcomb Valley Trail Run was established by Gary & Pam Kalina in 1997. Gary was an avid runner; he realized that some of the best trail running in Southern California was right here in Big Bear. Their involvement is crucial to the success of the event. Gary and Pam had decided after 15 years of event directing and coordination it was time to close that chapter in their life. Team Big Bear now runs the event in their honor
